Lens shows very good optical perfomance and can be compared to fixel focal lens.
Image which is provided with this lens has nice Bokeh and its contrast higher than average.
This lens can be successfully used as a portrait lens.
Has a good flare-resistance from counter and lateral light.
Lens has a high-quality assembling. Focusing ring rotates very smoothly.
You can use Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* 40-80 mm f/ 3.5 with most of digital cameras with interchangeable optics by attaching it with a special adapter.
West-Germany lenses are known to be better than Japan-made.
